EDINBURG, TEXAS – Vanguard Academy is to hold its Vanguard Family Golf Classic at Los Lagos Golf Club in Edinburg on Saturday, April 16.

Vanguard is currently looking for sponsorships, with all proceeds going to student scholarships.

“The proceeds of this tournament will be for student scholarships,” said Dr. Narciso Garcia, superintendent of Vanguard Academy, in a letter to prospective sponsors.

“Your kind sponsorship is greatly appreciated. Your generosity is a blessing during these pandemic times. Our students have missed out on so many school activities and with your support we will make a memorable difference.”

The organizer of the golf tournament is Rey Perez, a trustee at Vanguard Academy.

“The purpose of the Vanguard Family Golf Classic is to create partnerships in education within our community. This amazing relationship with our sponsoring partners will help build capacity to help change the lives of our deserving scholars,” Perez said.

“By providing our students with much needed financial support, we will motivate them to complete their college education. We want our first generation students to have an opportunity to excel by not having financial barriers. We want our students to have the financial security so that they can complete their college degrees.“
