AUSTIN, Texas – Gov. Greg Abbott has met with his counterparts in the four Mexican states bordering Texas to sign Memorandum of Understanding agreements.

He met with Nuevo León Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda at the Colombia Solidarity International Bridge just north of Laredo. He met with Chihuahua Governor María Eugenia Campos Galván and Coahuila Governor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís at the Texas Capitol in Austin. And he met with Tamaulipas Governor Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca in Weslaco, Texas.

Each of the four MOUs aim to enhance border security measures in order to prevent undocumented immigration and drugs from crossing Mexico into Texas and improve the flow of commercial traffic across the bridges between the four northern Mexican states and Texas.

The agreements go into effect immediately.

Under the agreement, Nuevo León, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Tamaulipas will increase inspections of trucks crossing into Texas. As a result of this, the Texas Department of Public Safety will no longer inspect all the trucks coming into Texas from Mexico.

Here is everything that was said at the meetings between Abbott and the four governors.
