The energy company is considering building a liquefied natural gas export terminal at the Port of Brownsville.

However, some local residents and groups oppose the plan, saying it would wreck South Padre Island’s tourism.

Rebekah Hinojosa, Brownsville organizer for the Sierra Club of the Rio Grande Valley, attended commissioners court to voice her opposition to the tax abatement.

She later spoke to reporter Steve Taylor about the campaign to stop LNG at the Port of Brownsville. Click on the link above to listen to the interview.
