MCALLEN, Texas – The McAllen Citizens League and the McAllen Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Council have announced that their November meeting will feature McAllen City Manager Roel ‘Roy’ Rodriguez as program speaker.

Rodriguez will provide an overview of the newly adopted McAllen FYE 22/2023 Budget and other city highlights.

The event will take place at the Old Church at 700 N. Main Street on November 17, 2022, starting at 11:30 a.m. A barbecue lunch will be served. Luncheon fee for members will be $15.00 and non-members $18.00 on a “Reservation Made- Reservation Paid” basis.

Deadline to reserve for lunch is November 14, 2022. Please call Elva M. Cerda at 956-681- 2861 and leave a detailed message. Membership dues may be paid at the event via cash, check or credit card. To pay via credit card prior to the meeting, please contact Gerry Garcia at the McAllen Chamber 681-2871. 

Rodriguez has over 30 years of public service experience and he has served as city manager for the City of McAllen since March of 2014. Previously, he held the position of general manager of the McAllen Public Utility and assistant city manager.

Rodriguez previously served as a city engineer, assistant city manager and city manager for the City of Harlingen. He has also served as city engineer in Weslaco, Jefferson County Engineer and as area engineer in Oklahoma.

Rodriguez holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&I University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas – Pan American.
