EDINBURG, RGV – Four Rio Grande Valley leaders will discuss the recent RGV to DC trip at a luncheon at Bob’s Steak & Chop House in Edinburg on Tuesday, June 26.

The four special guests are Sergio Contreras, president of the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, attorney Danny Gurwitz, chairman of the board of directors for the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, Veronica Gonzales, vice president of governmental and community relations at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Ron Garza, executive director of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Corporation.

“I am looking forward to highlighting our activities while in D.C. The visit gave us an opportunity to engage as one region at the nation’s capital,” Contreras told the Rio Grande Guardian.

“The diverse group of community and business leaders that participated will continue to engage the priorities that benefit our region.”

The trip to D.C. was organized by the RGV Partnership. The Valley’s regional chamber of commerce took 40-plus VIPs from the Valley to the nation’s capital to meet with U.S. lawmakers and federal agency officials, including U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, and U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke. They also took in a Border Trade Alliance conference held at the Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute.

The luncheon is the second in a new series hosted by the Rio Grande Guardian and titled [email protected]’s. The luncheons take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Tickets are $25 a person.
