EDINBURG, RGV – The Texas Tribune, an Austin-based online news service focusing on state government and state politics, hosted a legislative luncheon event at UT-Rio Grande Valley on Friday.

CEO and Co-Founder Evan Smith moderated a discussion with state Sen. Juan Hinojosa of McAllen, state Rep. R.D. ‘Bobby’ Guerra of McAllen, and state Rep. Terry Canales of Edinburg.

Much of the discussion focused on school finance, healthcare and the state budget. In a Q&A at the end of the forum a hot topic was plans to establish a healthcare district in Hidalgo County.
