Hello, I am Carlos Garcia, Secretary of economic development for the great state of Tamaulipas, Mexico.

I appreciate the opportunity to share with all of you more about the state of Tamaulipas and our binational region.

The people of Tamaulipas are hardworking and warm-hearted and we know exactly how to build bridges and alliances with the goal of creating an ideal business environment and community. That is our signature and way of doing business. Thanks to the leadership of our Governor Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca, it still is. Not only alongside our border and neighboring states in Mexico, but across the globe.

Prosperity and development is achieved only when we know how to build up from our individual and collective strengths, as well as our strategic alliances. And this shared vision is what makes this binational region an ideal spot for investment. The geographic location of Tamaulipas with its more than 14,000 kilometers of roads and highways, 18 international border crossings, three sea ports and five international airports help us connect efficiently with the major economic regions in America.

These advantages position Tamaulipas as a top player in Mexico regarding logistics and foreign trade. We are currently ranked first place both in land and rail shipments.

Another of our state’s main competitive assets is our industry. We house more than 400 world class companies in strategic sectors such as auto parts, medical, electric and electronic, chemical petrochemical, and energy. Companies that confirm the trust investors have in our region and our people. Reasons why Tamaulipas achieved a milestone in 2019, becoming the fifth place in Mexico in the attraction of foreign direct investment, which comes largely from the U.S., Italy, Spain, Australia, and Germany.

The auto parts industry in Tamaulipas is not only one of our core businesses but also part of who we are as this sector represents more than half of the established industry in our state, a fact that reinforces the level of expertise, quality, and overall advantages our communities have to offer.

We have a long history of working together and this tandem has allowed us to build a unique business and commercial ecosystem alongside our border. One that is filled with success stories of twin plants, solidarity, mutual growth, and true partnership between our communities.

We also highlight our shared vision of integrating a new generation of graduates to our binational community. A goal that is and will continue to be achieved through the strong collaboration of the universities, and technical schools alongside our border cities. Institutions whose main goal is to offer innovation and progress to both our people and industry.

Our labor force, our strategical location but most of all our commitment of doing business for the development and growth of our communities makes us a key ally and partner and cities like Matamoros and Brownsville are part of a world class economic region that have become strategic sites for investment. This is why we invite you to know more about the Tamaulipas and Brownsville and Matamoros area, as well as the great opportunities we are certain we can achieve together. Welcome to Tamaulipas.
