MISSION, Texas – Teclo Garcia, CEO of Mission Economic Development Corporation, says his city is doing well when it comes to sales tax revenues.

Garcia took to LinkedIn to give an update on the latest numbers. He said sales tax receipts for December 2022 were the best ever month for Mission.

“In calendar year 2022, Mission’s sales tax receipts were $24.3 million – an eye-popping 45% increase from the pre-COVID year 2019,” Garcia reported. “It’s difficult to forecast that sort of growth going forward given inflation, stimulus slowdown and the like. However, 2022 marked the 5th-straight year of retail increases. And, so far 2023 is up 7.2%.”
