Veronica Gonzales, vice president for governmental and community relations at UT-Rio Grande Valley, was in Mercedes this week for a ribbon cutting ceremony for VIDA (Valley Initiative for Development & Advancement) at its new headquarters on Ohio Street. While she was there, Gonzales stopped for a moment to get a photo with the UT- RGV Boot that has been erected just across the street. She said she loves the Botas de Mercedes initiative as it promotes education on just about every street corner in the historic Queen City of Mercedes.
