MCALLEN, Texas – McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos is calling on local residents to provide feedback on online on his city’s draft comprehensive plan.
Villalobos pointed out that for the past ten months, the City of McAllen has been developing an updated comprehensive plan, by hosting community meetings and online surveys and asking for input from residents, businesses, community stakeholders and others.
“It’s important we hear from our residents, so we can plan for McAllen’s bold, sustainable future growth,” Villalobos said.
Villalobos, pictured above, said the draft plan is now final. He said the community is once again invited to give feedback on what is being proposed for McAllen’s future growth and development for the next 20 to 30 years.
The areas up for comment to the public, Villalobos said, are proposed land uses, future plans for parklands, transportation, economic development, and the city’s growth in general.
He said the comprehensive plan will help McAllen maintain its character, enhance the quality of life for residents and support economic development.
Villalobos said residents can visit the website Envision McAllen, at www.mcallen2040.com and leave comments on anything proposed in the plan. The website is available in English and Spanish. The plan will be available for public comment through May 12, 2023.
The City of McAllen’s work on its comprehensive plan coincides with McAllen Economic Development Corporation working on its strategic plan.
