MISSION, Texas – Killam Development has been named Business of the Year 2022 by the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce.
The company received its award at the chamber’s recent annual member award ceremony.
Killam is developing a 3,400-acre master planned community in south Mission and McAllen. To be known as El Milagro, it will include a new industrial park near Anzalduas International Bridge.
“It truly is an honor to be recognized for our efforts and dedication to our community. We proudly serve Mission and all of South Texas and will continue striving for growth and excellence for years to come,” said René Alcalá, director of business development, RGV leasing and sales at Killam Development.
The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce said Killam is a company dedicated to the best interests of the South Texas community.
“Our Business of the Year award recognizes a business that has demonstrated significant achievements, leadership, community involvement, and development in the past year,” the Mission Chamber stated. “This award measures the extent to which a business is involved in the local community.
The Chamber added: “Throughout 2022, Killam Development has participated in various Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives that fall within the award criteria.”
A Killam Development news release listed five key attributes the company is bringing to Mission. They are:
- Contribution to economic development
Having recently acquired the Sharyland Business Park, a 175-acre industrial park, we were able to share our growth with the community. This expansion generates hundreds of new jobs in the greater border region. It also attracts manufacturing, logistics, and distribution facilities along the Anzalduas International Bridge, bringing new investment and job opportunities to Mission. - Community involvement
Because we want employees to make a real difference, we actively include staff on the board of directors at various organizations. We have also supported and donated to several non-profits such as Teach for America, The Boys & Girls Club, VAMOS, RGV Partnership Association, and more - Exemplary customer service
In preparation for the 3,400-acre development known as El Milagro, Killam Development invited members of the public to participate in a series of workshops. These hands-on sessions allowed people to take an active part in making decisions about the new community, such as walking and biking trails, park access, entertainment, and more. - Professional staff development
It is standard at Killam Development for employees to get free access to Lernerbly, a marketplace with resources such as webinars, classes, books, and other educational tools. We fund memberships in professional development organizations like SHRM, Texas Society, CPAs, and TSBPA. In addition to that, we reimburse continuing education and certification programs through our partnerships. - Implementation of leading industry trends
We strive to be responsible custodians of the land. As such, our El Milagro development, which includes the Sharyland Business Park, is positioned to serve business owners in the local community. It aims to provide the necessary space and infrastructure to support sustainable business growth.
