McALLEN, RGV – Jim Barnes, leader of the McAllen Tea Party, recommends those countering a Black Lives Matter event in Archer Park, McAllen on Saturday, should not open carry a long gun or pistol.

Barnes is participating in a Blue Lives Matter event which will be held at the same time and same place as the Black Lives Matter demonstration. In an email alert to news media outlets on Thursday, Barnes wrote:

“A Black Lives Matter group is staging a demonstration at Archer Park in McAllen on Saturday, July 16th, in the evening. A group of Motorcycle Patriots are staging a Blue Lives Matter counter demonstration also at the Park. You may check Facebook Valley Blue Defenders.

“I would NOT open carry a long gun or a pistol as it would confuse Law Enforcement BUT I would carry concealed. Condition Red for awareness of your surroundings.

“It is time to start taking a stand. I have been asked many times when do we follow our Founding Fathers. It is not time for Lexington Green, but it is time for a Tea Party.

“I remember when the Tea Party staged a counter demonstration for an Obamacare Rally in Archer Park. We outnumbered them by at least 4 to 1. The reporters covering the event came across the street and interviewed the Tea Party.”

The two protests in Archer Park are slated to take place between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Archer Park on Saturday.
