Elsa Treffeisen

is a third year pediatric resident at a hospital in the borough of Queens in New York City. She worked for a month in the Rio Grande Valley with fellow third year pediatric residents Keith Casey, also of Queens, and Ellen McCormack, from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. They were hosted by the Community for Children, run by Dr. Marsha Griffin, MD, of Brownsville, Texas. Griffin brought down nine residents in total. They split into three groups of three. Treffeisen, Casey and McCormack helped Proyecto Azteca during their month in the Valley.
