BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation and the UTRGV Entrepreneurship & Commercialization Center have announced ‘Insights Unplugged,’ an annual Speaker Series to be held at the eBridge Center for Business & Commercialization.
The plan with Insights Unplugged is to bring together expert speakers on education, government, business, science, tech and creativity. The speakers will share ideas that could impact Texas and, in particular, the Rio Grande Valley.
The first show in the series is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th beginning at 5:30 PM, sponsored by Texas Regional Bank.
The series kicks off with speakers Alberto ‘Beto’ Altamirano, co-founder and CEO of Irys, and Trey Mendez, mayor for the City of Brownsville.
Mayor Mendez was elected in July 2019 as the second youngest mayor in the largest city in the Rio Grande Valley. He has made closing the digital divide a top priority through his broadband project, earning him a New Century Cities’ Change Maker award for his work on this initiative.
Altamirano is an experienced entrepreneur and leader in organizational transformation, technology, social innovation, and the future of cities. He is co-founder and CEO of Irys, which creates AI-driven tools that engage communities to bring real-time visibility and data analytics for urban stakeholders.
