I am a 26-year-old raised by my great grandparents, who were born in 1912 and 1915. You can just say, my upbringing was “old school.”
Growing up, I learned so much about history and the importance of education. After the historic 2016 presidential election, being well-informed and educated is more important than ever. Knowledge and information are two of the greatest commodities.
As a realtor, I understand having the proper information can either make you, or break you. Social platforms have been filled with false stories and narratives. As a child, I was told there is always three sides to a story: the right side, the left side, and the truth. We must always verify every piece of information we receive, before making a decision based on that information.
I believe in the power of information. Information gathered properly by the right group of people, has been proven to be the formula for solving complex problems in our world.
As the Publisher of the Rio Grande Guardian, I am proud to say we pride ourselves in sticking to the facts, and letting our readers determine their own educated opinion. (Full disclosure: I am not involved on the journalism side, I solely handle the business operations.)
Our mission: To provide and promote impartial, informative reporting of Texas border news to help educate, and enlighten the community in an online format that allows access for all.
Over the years, our stories have been picked up and shared by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express-News, Austin American-Statesman, CNN, MSNBC, ABC World News Tonight, Glenn Beck Show, and Good Morning America. It is recognized as a strong, independent voice for the border region.
In addition to key decision-makers in Austin, Texas and Washington, D.C., our reader base is made up of people who care; readers who want to stay informed on the issues impacting their daily lives. With your support, we will continue to focus on what has brought us this far, informative reporting.
Great things happen when we work together. If we want to live in a better world, we have to make it better. By educating ourselves, coming together, and focusing on solutions, there is not a problem we can’t solve. I personally invite you to join our movement of promoting and moving our communities forward.
