We have seen our presence in the region grow and we have much more interaction with our readers and viewers. After a period of stability, we have successfully assembled a younger and more dynamic team and, as a result, we can all see an upward trajectory, in terms of relevance in the marketplace, hits, and investment.
Over the past year we have seen the launch of a new website we are super thrilled with. Thank you, Victor Ollervidez! And we have a much stronger presence on social media, which is helping drive more readers our way. Thank you, Hutton Edwards and Mark Hanna! Whether we keep the new readers and viewers and add to them will depend on us finding even more unique stories about this fascinating international border region and on producing quality journalism across various platforms. We are confident we can.
The changes at the Rio Grande Guardian have been quite dramatic since last year’s Thanksgiving Day. We have added Shon Gonzalez, Patricia Fogarty, Mark Hanna, Hutton Edwards, Stevie Gallegos, Victor Ollervidez, Ena Capucion, Melva Lavín-Castillo and Apolonio Sandoval to the team. Patricia and Apol were here many years ago but it is great to have them back.
I would also say a big Thank You to our mainstays – Nadezhda Garza, Claudia Perez-Rivas, Dayna Reyes, Luis Montoya, Gary Mounce and José López. You guys are an inspiration.
None of this would be possible without the loyalty of our readers, viewers and sponsors. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and ideas. We want to live up to the expectations you have for our international news service. Please let us know if we are getting there or where we need to improve.
Mark will be penning a column about our mission statement and future plans in the coming days, so stay tuned.
Thanks again. Have a great Thanksgiving!
