Lisa Garcia birthday tribute takes place on Wednesday

By Staff

McALLEN, March 4 - The life of much-loved Pharr native Lisa Garcia will be celebrated at the offices of Peralez Franz, LLC, in McAllen on Wednesday evening.

Garcia, a popular attorney, died in an accident in Austin last May. She would have celebrated her 49th birthday on February 26. A university scholarship is being created in her honor.

"Lisa was very passionate about UT and the RGV Scholars program," said her good friend, 13th Court of Appeals Justice Dori Contreras Garza. "This event is being held to celebrate her life and to raise funds for the endowment so that, each year beginning in 2015, a scholarship in Lisa's name can be awarded to a deserving RGV student."

The offices of the Peralez Franz law firm are located at 1416 W. Dove Avenue in McAllen. The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. RSVP to valleyalumni@austin.utexas.edu.
