PALMVIEW, RGV – The Wild Wild West is the theme for this year’s parade at WinterFest, which takes place Saturday, Feb. 18th.

The City of Palmview has organized their community iconic event for a second year in arow.

The City of Palmview and the Palmview Chamber of Commerce have joined together to organize an event they believe will grow in attendance and in activities on an annual basis.

“We are extremely proud of all of the efforts the City and the Chamber have taken to prepare for Winterfest 2017. Palmview is inviting families from Palmview and the surrounding area to partake in a day of fun filled activities,” said Linda Ruiz-Sarabia, a Palmview City Commissioner and Palmview Chamber of Commerce board member.

Ruiz-Sarabia said the general public can enjoy the 2nd Annual Guadalupe “Sonny” Hernandez Memorial Cook Off, led by Palmview Crime Stoppers. “The competition is noted to be tough and so we must wait for judges to give us results of the winning teams.”

Live music will be playing from 12 noon to 10:00 p.m., with local bands showcased, as well as entertainers from throughout Hidalgo County.

Winterfest 2017 has fun for every member of the family including kiddie rides and games, Ruiz-Sarabia said, explaining that patrons are encouraged to stop by the food and beverage vendors who will be in attendance for the duration of the event.

“The highlight of the day will be the parade, which’s theme this year is the Wild Wild West. The line up includes members of our community who have dedicated time to create a spectacular parade for adults and children to enjoy,” Ruiz-Sarabia added.

The parade marshal will launch the parade at 3:00 p.m.

There is no entry fee for WinterFest 2017.
