BROWNSVILLE, RGV – Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation is looking to partner with nonprofit organizations and city departments to promote economic development in Brownsville.

Josh Mejia, BCIC’s outreach coordinator, said all nonprofit organizations and city departments that are interested in participating are welcome to apply for BCIC’s Partnership Grants.

He noted that Partnership Grants will ultimately replace the previously known Promotion and Community Events Grants. However, he said the new grants will not change policies and funding opportunities that many organizations and city departments have utilized before with BCIC.

Mejia said BCIC will continue to fully implement its 3-Year Economic Development Strategic Plan.

“The BCIC is working diligently to actively partner with community organizations and city departments to ensure the ‘type b’ economic development organization is able to promote economic development opportunities for Brownsville, Texas,” Mejia told the Rio Grande Guardian.

“Through our Partnership Grant, we are able to both assist nascent community events and identify initiatives that create a substantial economic impact to the city. We want to invite all invested applicants to attend our mandatory info-session on May 15, at 10:00 AM to learn more about our criteria and marketing requirements.”

Mejia said BCIC will partner with organizations by supplementing up to $5,000 towards their marketing efforts of community events or initiatives that promote tourism and boost local spending within Brownsville, Texas.

He said BCIC Partnership Grants will be open for all nonprofit organizations and city departments on April 30, 2018.

All nonprofit organizations and city departments that apply will be required to attend BCIC’s Info-Session, where they will learn about BCIC’s application policy, mission, strategic goals to promote economic development through community development, and marketing opportunities to promote Brownsville, Texas. Applicants will be required to apply online through www.bcic.us/funding and attend BCIC’s Info-Session on Tuesday, May 15, at 10:00 AM at the Brownsville Public Library on 2600 Central Boulevard, Brownsville.
